LITTLE LIONS @ PRIDE LANDS

ABOUT OUR LITTLE LIONS PROGRAM

Our Little Lions program is led by lifelong Jiu-Jitsu athletes who are passionate about teaching martial arts to all kids in a fun and interactive way, aiming to transform young lives. In the Little Lions program, our mission is to produce a team of young, respectful athletes who are committed to bettering themselves and their teammates. Whether your child wants to become the next world champion or make some new friends, we are tirelessly devoted to helping them accomplish their goals.

NO-GI JIU-JITSU

Our school dominantly practices No-Gi, so of course our Little Lions follow suit. Classes will often start with group exercises and warmups designed to improve our student's athleticism and mobility. We then move into instruction and partner drills where our students are taught in accordance with a curriculum developed by our youth instructors. We then follow with positional and open sparring which improves their problem-solving skills. Additionally, if students exemplify good behavior during class, we will conclude with a Jiu-Jitsu game to encourage healthy competition!

STRIKING

In our youth striking class, we focus on the fundamentals of boxing, kickboxing, and MMA. With drills focusing on footwork and basic punching combinations, our students learn practical techniques for self-defense and competition. In this new program, we are so excited to further our mission-- bully-proofing the kids of NEPA! Try out a class for free!

  • Can I stay to watch during practice?
All parents are welcome to observe class! However, we notice some new students tend to have harder time adapting to the new environment if they feel like they can run to their parents. In this situation, we suggest to drop off your child for class and start attending once they have adjusted to our academy/class structure. The choice is yours-- you are welcome to stay or do a drop-off/ pickup situation!
  • How can I accelerate the learning of my child?
To see the quickest skill growth in your children, have them attend as many classes with us as possible. The consistency will greatly benefit them especially if they are studying Gi and No-Gi. To further accelerate their learning, we suggest scheduling private lessons with our youth instructors. These private lessons can be 1:1 or split between two students (this method is recommended so students can work with someone their size). Then our instructors will give their sole attention to refining technique and developing a game that is best suited for each individual.
  • When should my kid start competing?
We love to get our students involved in competition as soon as they are prepared. Competition is a valuable teaching asset that our instructors use to teach our Little Lions how to handle both loss and victory with humility. Our youth instructors will screen students for readiness throughout standard class time-- if they see students that are prepared they will inform parents. If you haven't heard anything back yet, feel free to ask our instructors and they will give helpful feedback to get your child competition-ready!
  • What can I do if my child is too young for your program?
If you are looking to get your kid involved in Jiu-Jitsu at Pride Lands asap but they are too young, we suggest doing 30-45 minute privates with our instructors. We currently don't accept students below age six for our Little Lions program due to size and attention span. However, our youth instructors are equipped to work 1:1 with cubs in training! This way your child can develop the skills they need at a pace that works for them! Then they will enter our program with a boost in knowledge, preparing them to learn and perform at an accelerated speed in the future.
  • How do promotions work at Pride Lands?
At Pride Lands every promotion is earned. Our instructors are constantly screening students for skill, attendance, performance, and character to determine who deserves special recognition in the form of a belt. If a student competes, our instructors have a special criteria to determine what performance should look like at each rank-- making some promotions harder to earn than others.

LITTLE LIONS INSTRUCTORS

Nevin and Makenna have been training since they were your child's age-- they know what it's like to be in their student's shoes. Both are active competitors dedicated to sharing what they learn in a relatable way for their students. (Our youth instructors have received all necessary clearances to work with children.)
